WA: Premier, police appeal to drivers after six road deaths

(EDS: Easter road toll figures are for the period 0001 April 20 to 2359 April 25. Some
states and territories may have different periods)

West Australian Premier RICHARD COURT and senior state police have appealed for drivers
to stay calm and alert as the state's Easter road toll continues to climb.

Six people have died on Western Australia roads so far this Easter, including a 52-year-old
man who was hit by a car this morning on the Mitchell Freeway in Perth's northern suburbs.

Describing the holiday road toll as tragic, Mr COURT says authorities are concerned
there will be more deaths as people return home today and tomorrow.

Acting Inspector PAUL BOND says four of those killed were among the most vulnerable
road users - pedestrians and motorcylists.

He says police are doing all they can to encourage drivers to act responsibly.
