Fed: Keke now being questioned over past crimes

The leader of the Solomon Islands intervention force, Australian diplomat NICK WARNER,says militant leader HAROLD KEKE is now being questioned over allegations of past crimes.

Mr WARNER says KEKE, who surrendered to the intervention force yesterday, had beenflown by Australian navy helicopter to the landing ship HMAS Manoora.

He says no deals had been done to secure KEKE's surrender, which followed a seriesof three meetings over the last week.

Mr WARNER's told the Nine Network that he'd made it clear since his arrival in theSolomons three weeks ago that the force doesn't do deals, negotiate or make compromises.

Mr WARNER says KEKE is now aboard HMAS Manoora, which would reach Honiara this morning.

Mr WARNER says the Australian Federal Police would continue to interview KEKE for aslong as necessary.
